Tiivistelmä
This thesis describes, how Tieto provided service offerings are implemented to meet customer needs. Tieto cloud based virtual servers and Java services provided JBOSS middleware application servers functionality on top of Tieto cloud servers are implemented to replace customer's old Java platform hosting environment. All the objectives and realized functionality is viewed from the project management perspective. The customer's decision to initiate the project was based to their own architectural plan, the Proof of Concept testing together with Tieto and to Tieto’s standard offerings to fulfill customer's Java platform requirements for supplier.
The approach in the thesis is to shortly describe the Tieto’s core project management business process system used in the project mentioned above and how it corresponds with many of the commonly known project management frameworks like PMBOK, CPM and Lean. Also part of the thesis will describe shortly Tieto’s continuous services structure, management, practices and correspondence to commonly known ITIL v3 service management standard. This all is a basis to understand what kind of measures each continuous services area delivery projects must go through in order to guarantee successful and separately accepted projects transition to continuous services. These topics above are considered to be the theory part of the thesis that should be helpful to understand what practices are followed during the project life-cycle from the project management and project manager's perspective.
The other key area in this thesis is to describe the real project, its scope, plans, deliverables, findings etc. Project plan form a solid base for the introduction of scope and deliverables as well as schedule and resourcing perspectives among other things. Project final report summons up the most important project findings like lessons learned and all the feedback gathered from customer and also from project members. Project manager's own evaluation is part of project's final report. Some chapters will describe the technical solution in high level, but the main content in this thesis will describe project management area work in the project and what kind of steps must be completed before implementation project's deliverables are transitioned to be executed as a continuous service.
