Tiivistelmä
This thesis was done for the hull production of Meyer Turku Ltd which is a German owned shipyard in Finland that produces passenger ships including some of the largest cruise liners in the world.
The objective of this thesis was to come up with a solution to generate necessary input parameters for simulation purposes of the case company. The solution was supposed to concentrate on generating the parameter for prototype ships that have never been produced before.
For achieving the solution a research and development process, where it was examined how the solution could be created based on existing theories from the field of product development, was carried out. Modularity, statistical interference and the use of a configurator were some of the key ideas which were utilized in the development process.
As a result a method which successfully provides the parameters in the case of the prototype ships was created.
