Tiivistelmä
Nowadays, the efficiency of the industrial manufacturing has been increased dramatically thanks to the development of automation technologies. However, with increasingly fierce competition in the international market, manufacturing systems are required to be more flexible and to be able to react rapidly to the changes of customer demanding. In this background, the service-oriented production line is of great potential in improving flexibility, configurability and productivity of the industrial manufacturing.
The storage buffer, which serves as a temporary pallet storage for the automatic production line in FAST lab, is designed and implemented based on the service-oriented architecture (SOA) in the thesis. SOA is a component model, which is a framework for designing, developing, applying and managing the distributed sys-tems. By applying the SOA technology into the buffer, the buffer can be easily integrated into the production line. The storage buffer described in this thesis can perform in four operation modes including Automatic mode, Manual mode, Consultation mode and the Feedback mode. It provides the functional completeness for the whole production line and exhibits adequate intelligence and performance.
The results of the thesis show
1) The designed control system of the storage buffer;
2) The communication methods between the buffer and the existing production line;
3) The realization of the four operation modes of the buffer.
