Tiivistelmä
The purpose of the literature review was to investigate the effect of celiac disease, Crohn’s disease, CVID and NSAID-induced enteropathy on the structure of small intestinal microvilli, brush border membrane enzyme production and gene expression. The review also investigated the prevalence and incidence of prescribed enteropathies in Western countries and in Finland, as well as cell models and the potential of iPSC-models to model the diseases.
The research part of the thesis first reviewed the research methods and permits required for the research. The research investigated whether individuals with these enteropathies were found in an iPSC-cohort of 150 patients. The results were compared with the prevalence of each disease in Finland.
