Background. Specific training in general medical practice (YEK) that includes 9-month working period in primary healthcare. The aim is to get familiarized with the various aspects of primary healthcare.Objectives. We wanted to find out how doctors have experienced their YEK primary healthcare period.Materials and methods. Data in the study is from medical education survey in the Inner Finland area. The cohort was limited to respondents who completed their YEK primary healthcare period in the 2020s. The research was conducted using qualitative content analysis.Results. Clinical support, versatility and opportunities to influence the work were perceived as positive. The most criticized theme was lack of resources.Conclusions. For newly graduated doctors, clinical support and reasonable workload are important.
