Tiivistelmä
Finland’s aim is to halve transport emissions by 2030 and eliminating them completely by 2045. One of the ways to reduce freight transport emissions is by linking and analyzing characteristics, like general freight transport volumes, time management and energy generation and use, to generate a road freight model as a policy support tool to assess development towards the zero-emission goals. The purpose of this study is to understand how to integrate electric freight vehicles in the future national road freight model of Finland. The study answers questions on identifying the current road freight transport models, methods of road freight transport model development, their purposes, and including electric freight vehicles in road freight transport models. Through literature review, we found out that there are number of studies providing overviews about the freight transport modelling, but only a few, which consider the electric freight vehicles as a part of modelling. Freight transport models are mainly used to provide support for decision-making at national or regional levels, and model to understand the relationship between transportation and economic activity and connecting the traffic flows with the networks.
