Tiivistelmä
DevSecOps is a modern technology in software development that will result in a safe and secure design of software products. It reduces effort from the team members and saves time. This will result in an overall efficiency of the system to perform automation in terms of security, audit and anomalies in an organization.
Software development life cycle (SDLC) is a process of combining design, development, and testing the quality of the software products. It is common that criminals are ready to target companies that have flaws in their SDLC process. Companies need to integrate security measures into the SDLC process to mitigate the risks of cyberattacks and financial losses. Organizations that integrate DevSecOps technology can improve security posture and reduce significant costs by detecting vulnerabilities at an early stage of SDLC.
This qualitative research examines how industry benefits financially while also maintaining security standards with the use of DevSecOps tools and technology. A semi-structured interview was designed to investigate the financial and security benefits of implementing DevSecOps technology. Six semi-structured interviews were taken, targeting professionals that work in the DevSecOps domain.
The study uses qualitative analysis software to perform thematic analysis on the interview data. Using qualitative analysis software, significant data was identified and categories through two methods. The methods are inductive coding is an open-ended examination of data, whereas deductive coding uses pre-defined categories to examine interview data. Then the data were grouped into themes according to research questions. After that, the main theme was divided into subthemes to conclude the analysis.
The focus of the interview was getting insights from industry experts about the financial and security benefits of technology. The research interview data shows the effectiveness of DevSecOps tools in improving organizational operational efficiency and security posture while also maintaining a significant cost reduction.
The result from the analysis shows that DevSecOps technology enhances security, reduces costs, and boosts ROI by reducing compliance and regulatory costs. It improves early detection, risk mitigation, team productivity, and incident response. However, some challenges like tool complexity, cost, and skill shortages are present, but these challenges can be addressed through collaboration and continuous learning.
