Assessment and Screening for Early Detection

Abstract

This chapter includes a discussion of contemporary approaches to the assessment and early screening for possible problems in infant development and mental well-being. We will address questions of why, where, and how assessment and early screening is done, and discuss its implications and value also as an intervention in infant mental health practice. An international perspective is incorporated throughout, discussing how assessment tools and infant mental settings may vary across cultures and contexts.
