Tiivistelmä
This project describes the design, development and realisation of a modular PCB system for an IoT-based smart vending machine. To unify all the payment terminals on one platform, the system provides efective power supply, efective communication, and reliable performance. At the core of the system is the Top cabinet pcb that supplies 12V power and provides network, and USB connectivity to terminal-specifc PCBs: Valina, Nayax, myPOS. Designed with constraints such as impedance-matched signal routing, ground stitching vias and polygon pours for high signal integrity, each PCB was customized for specifc functionalities.
Through LAN port interfacing, power and network are delivered via Valina terminal PCB to Valina payment terminal. Power regulation from 12V to 5V and USB-to-RS232 signal conversion for the Nayax terminal specifcations are provided via the Nayax terminal PCB. The myPOS PCB having an onboard power supply for high current demand and USB signal routing for Power and Data. Power and orientation LEDs on each board make installation and diagnostics easy.
The modular (PCBs) were affxed within the cabinet, and tested, to ensure reliable power distribution, signal conversion and communication. The design scales smoothly, allowing types of terminals to be integrated and added features.
This project provides an end-to-end solution for IoT-enabled vending machines, showcasing the importance of modularity, precision engineering, and user-centric design in the evolution of smart vending technology.
