Tiivistelmä
Diplomityöni jakaantuu kahteen osaan: Kukkian kylien käyttämättömien hirsirakennusten inventointiin ja Hailun uudelleenkäyttösuunnitelmaan. Inventoinnin toteutin kesällä 2023 ja loppuvuoden jatkoin työtä uudelleenkäyttösuunnitelmalla. Työ valmistui tammikuussa 2024.
Kukkian kylien käyttämättömien hirsirakennusten inventointi on jatkoa Rautajärven Torppakylä-hankkeelle.
My thesis is divided into two parts: Building inventory of unused log houses in villages of Kukkia and Reusage plan of Hailu’s old log house. The inventory was carried out in the summer of 2023 and the rest of the year I continued the project with the reusage plan. The thesis was completed in January 2024.
Building inventory of unused log houses in villages of Kukkia is a continuation of the Torppakylä project in Rautajärvi. The aim of the inventory was to find more log buildings suitable for relocation, in the villages around Lake Kukkia. During the summer, I mapped unused or underused log buildings in the area and documented the current state of the buildings by measuring and photographing them during the inventory visits. The history and phases of the buildings and building sites were researched by interviewing the owners and using various written sources. I divided the sites into three categories based on their cultural and historical value. The inventory provided a comprehensive record of the researched buildings and sites, as well as an assessment of which buildings were suitable for relocation, and which should be repaired on site.
For the reusage plan, I selected one of the buildings in the inventory to be moved to a new location in Tampere. The selected building was the old main house of Hailu, and the new location was a plot in Takahuhti. The aim of the reusage plan was to extend my knowledge and skills to a more practical level. For the plan, I learned about the history of moving log buildings, the properties of old logs as a building material and the different stages of relocating a log house to another site. Another important aim of the project was to identify the characteristics of the old building and to consider how they could be preserved in the new building as well as how to meet the requirements of modern construction and living. This required an understanding of both traditional and modern building requirements, and how to combine the two into a beneficial and functional plan.
