Tiivistelmä
This thesis is divided in three parts: lifecycle management of digital components, preventive maintenance of digital components and current status of software maturity. This thesis is done with ABB Marine & Ports.
Shortening lifecycles of technical products and components make productization of automation system more challenging. This causes challenges for the maintenance. Automation systems are complex mechatronic systems, which consist for mechanical, electronic and software technic. Change in a one part of these usually causes changes in other parts. Short life cycles make product data management more difficult. One goal of this thesis is to find out the current lifecycle status of digital components in this case study.
Even small defects in automation system might cause severe damage and financial losses. Preventive and predictive maintenance have been developed in last decades. Purpose of the predictive maintenance of digital components is to decrease the probability of failure and carry out maintenance actions before major defects. One goal of this thesis is to find out, if it is possible to implement predictive maintenance for digital components in this case study.
When the current status of process maturity is known, it is easier to define future goals. Processes are easier to implement and improve, when the issues are found out. The third part of this thesis is to find out the current situation of the software development maturity. The goal is to find out different parts in software development, which needs to be improved. Case study is done with questionnaire.
