Tiivistelmä
Digital manufacturing is taking big leap as the Industry 4.0 inventions become more common. One of the major inventions of the Fourth Industrial Revolution is Digital twin-model. The cyber-physical system of digital twin is based on sensor and data communication technologies where the physical layer and virtual layer are driven side by side. This gives limitless possibilities to design, production and testing. This bachelor’s thesis about optimization of the production process with the digital twin.
This thesis is divided into six chapters. First chapter is about research question and the motivation for this thesis. The second chapter goes through the technologies behind Digital twin-model and Industry 4.0. Third chapter is about optimization of the production and looking into key paramters of production. The fourth chapter combines the digital twin and the optimization and creates overview of current research and situation through research articles and practical examples from production industry. Fifth and sixth dedicated for analysis and conclusions.
Overall this thesis joins together recent research and applications about digital twin. It also includes current trends and predictions about digital twin and Industry 4.0.
