Tiivistelmä
With the ever-changing markets in the paper and pulp industry and the continually rising costs of energy, there is an increasing need for lower operating costs, reduced environmental emissions, and improved safety. The central focus for lowering operating costs lies in improving the efficiency of existing processes.
In this thesis, various processes related to the smelt dissolving tank of a kraft recovery boiler were studied to understand the cause and effect of different process variables. Following this, a model was built for the balance calculation of the smelt dissolving tank. The model was verified with process data from an existing pulp mill and used to determine the effectiveness and profitability of certain processes.
