Samanaikaisesti omistajanvaihdoksen edessä on vuoteen 2010 mennessä 3 000 - 4 000 alan yrittäjää.
Tutkielman aiheena on selvittää kuljetusalan yrittäjyyttä naisyrittäjien näkökulmasta. Miten he kokevat naiseutensa merkityksen työskennellessään miehisellä alalla ja millaista yrittäjyyskasvatusta he tarjoavat omille lapsilleen? Viisitoista kuljetusalan naisyrittäjää teemahaastateltiin, minkä lisäksi aineistoa kerättiin kuljetusalan naisten käyttämällä, virtuaalisella ”nettihuoltamolla”, eStationilla. Haastatteluista tehtiin digitaalinen litterointi, joka helpotti aineiston analysointia.
Kuljetusyrittäjät, pitäkää huolta tyttäristänne! Perheyrittäjyyden merkitys korostuu vahvasti segregoituneilla aloilla. Perheen rohkaiseva ilmapiiri ja kasvuympäristön positiiviset mallit ovat tärkeitä naisten hakeutuessa perinteisille miesten aloille. Kasvaminen kuljetusyrittäjän tyttärenä on passi alan yrittäjyyteen.

Segregation is deep in the field of transportation and logistics. Women represent only 5,7 % of the general cargo entrepreneurs and 15,9 % of the bus company entrepreneurs (Statistics of Finland). Young people don’t think that the field of entrepreneurship is particularly fascinating. And, at the same time, 3 000 - 4 000 entrepreneurs* will retire until 2010. Common threatening factors are rising costs, harsher competition, lack of drivers and tightening safety requirements.
The subject of this thesis is to study the transportation entrepreneurship from the point of view of a women entrepreneur. How they feel about their femininity when working on a predominantly male field and what kind of entrepreneurial education do they give to their children. I have interviewed thirteen women entrepreneurs. In addition I have gathered data from a virtual platform, eStation. After the interviews I made a digital lettering which very much helped the later analysis.
Transportation entrepreneurs, please take care of your daughters! The impact of the family in the business is quite strong mainly in those fields where deep segregation is a norm. The encouraging atmosphere and positive role models are important when women begin to think about male dominated professions. To be a daughter of a transportation entrepreneur is a good passport for later entrepreneurship.
Mentors, tutors, women’s networks please pay attention to the non-traditional women entrepreneurship! Women entrepreneurs working in a technical field think that the kind of support systems they have received are not relevant. This is the principal and most common point raised by the actual women entrepreneurs. Women entrepreneurs want women networks which will, for example, deal with managing skills, technological information and/or marketing techniques instead of mud baths.
Life and entrepreneurship! Women transportation entrepreneurs turned it to their advantage the entrepreneurs’ freedom to work 24 hours a day. They integrated they entrepreneurship, family and social life. Not one of those sides was a “time thief”. Children got used to mother’s entrepreneurial life. They built their own identity by carrying tool boxes, washing tyres or cleaning loading platforms.
