Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli selvittää Rinnekodin hoitajien ja esimiesten työpaikkaan sitoutuneisuutta sekä arviota johtamistyön laadusta ja tarkastella näiden välisiä yhteyksiä. Myös taustatietojen mahdollisia yhteyksiä sitoutumiseen tarkasteltiin.
Tutkimusaineisto kerättiin kyselylomakkeella kaikilta tutkimuksen ajankohtana Rinnekodissa työskenteleviltä hoitajilta ja esimiehiltä. Kyselylomakkeita jaettiin Lakiston alueen hoitokoteihin 178 kappaletta ja Rinnekoti - Säätiön asuntoloihin 123 kappaletta, yhteensä 301 lomaketta. Palautuneita lomakkeita oli 206 ja vastausprosentti oli 68,44%. Kyselylomake muodostui kymmenestä taustakysymyksestä, 24:stä sitoutumista mittavasta kysymyksestä sekä 14.sta johtamistyön laatua mittavasta väittämästä. Lopuksi oli vastaajilla mahdollisuus avoimella kommentilla tuoda esiin muuta aiheeseen liittyvää. Aineisto analysoitiin tilastollisten ohjelmien avulla ja tulokseksi saatiin jokaiselle vastaajalle affektiivista, normatiivista ja jatkuvuussitoutumista kuvaavat arvot sekä vastaajakohtainen arvio johtamistyön laadusta.
Tutkimuksen tulosten mukaan olivat Rinnekodin työntekijät sitoutumisen osa-alueista voimakkaimmin affektiivisesti sitoutuneita (ka=3,09), normatiivisen ja jatkuvuussitoutumisen keskiarvot olivat alhaisempia (2,57 ja 2,56). Johtamistyön laatu arvioitiin melko hyväksi (keskiarvot vaihtelivat 3,38:sta 3,83:een) ja työntekijöiden tyytyväisyys johtamistyön laatuun lisääntyi iän ja hoitoalalla työskentelyn ajan myötä. Affektiivinen sitoutuminen korreloi kohtalaisesti johtamistyön laadun kanssa, normatiivinen ja jatkuvuussitoutuminen heikosti.

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to measure commitment of nurses and managers at Rinnekoti and to learn about the managerial skills of the leaders. Relations between commitment and contentness with the leaders´ managerial skills and relations between background information of the answerer and commitment were examined.
The data was collected from all the nurses and leaders, who worked at Rinnekoti at the time of the study. The questionnaire consisted of ten background information questions, 24 question about commitment and 14 statements concerning managerial skills of the leaders. At the end of the questionnaire had the answerers the opportunity to write a comment concerning the topics researched. The number of 301 questionnaires were handed out and 206 were returned to the researcher (68,44%). The data was analyzed with statistical computer programmes. As results got the researcher the values describing affective, normative and continuance commitment of every answerer and the answerers evaluation of the managerial skills of their leader.
Results show, that affective commitment was the strongest kind of commitment of the employers at Rinnekoti (mean=3,09), as normative and continuance commitments got lower values (2,57 and 2,56). Managerial skills of the leaders were approximately good (means between 3,38 and 3,83). Satisfaction with the managerial skills grew as the employers got older and as they had worked longer in nursing. Affective commitment correlated fairly with the managerial skills, but the correlations between managerial skills and normative and continuance commitments were week.
